
Carolina Hurricane Relief Efforts
Like so many others who live and love North and South Carolina, it's heartbreaking to see so many Carolinians deeply affected by Hurricane Helene. Below are links to organizations where you can contribute to the recovery efforts. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Please help in any way you can to support our neighbors in need.
North Carolina Relief Efforts:
State of North Carolina Government Disaster Relief Fund – Contributions help with the unmet needs of hurricane victims in North Carolina. Donate Here
Water Mission – Working to provide safe drinking water in Western NC. Donate Here
NC VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster) – Coordinating volunteer efforts and donations for clean-up and rebuilding. Sign up or donate at NCVOAD.org
BeLoved Asheville – Collecting food, water, hygiene products, and supplies. They are also in need of truck drivers to deliver supplies. Donations can be made via Venmo (BeLoved-Asheville) or CashApp ($BeLovedAsheville). More info at BeLoved Asheville
Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry – Partnered with the Red Cross to provide shelters and food vouchers. Support their efforts at ABCCM

Mutual Aid Disaster Relief – Provides emergency assistance in Western NC. You can support them here

South Carolina Relief Efforts:
American Red Cross – Supporting both North and South Carolina with shelter, food, and medical assistance. Donate or volunteer through RedCross.org
United Way of South Carolina – Raising funds for recovery efforts in SC. You can donate via their fundraiser page
Samaritan's Purse – Active in both NC and SC, providing emergency repairs and support. Donate at Samaritan's Purse

Animal and Pet Rescue Efforts:
Forsyth Humane Society – Partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation to rescue pets displaced by the storm. Volunteers for fostering are needed. More info at Forsyth Humane Society

Watauga Humane Society – Volunteers and foster homes are urgently needed to care for displaced animals. You can also donate supplies like pet food and blankets. Visit Watauga Humane Society to help.

For those in Western North Carolina that need rescue assistance and can't reach 911, try the following alternatives:
Call the NC Search and Rescue Center at 211 or 1-888-892-1162
American Red Cross – If you are trying to get in touch with someone or need emergency assistance, you can call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) for disaster-related services. They may be able to connect you with rescue or emergency resources
NC Emergency Management (NCEM) – They are managing resources for rescue and evacuation operations in flood-affected areas. People in urgent need of help can reach NCEM through local emergency lines or by following updates on ReadyNC.gov
Samaritan’s Purse – They are on the ground in Western NC and may be able to assist with rescue efforts. You can contact them through their website for urgent help
Mutual Aid Disaster Relief – A grassroots organization that offers on-the-ground assistance and rescue for those in immediate danger. You can find contacts through their website
Local Shelters – Some shelters in the area, including those run by Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, may also help with finding people who need emergency rescue. Reach out via their website
